Privacy Policy

Overview
BiteKit is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your nutrition data is personal. We collect only what we need to run the app, we never sell or share your personal data, and we give you full control to export or delete it at any time.
Data Storage
BiteKit is local-first: your meal logs, nutrition data, weight history, and personal goals are stored on your device, which holds the primary copy of your data and keeps the app fast and available offline.
Accounts & Sign-In
BiteKit uses an account to enable cloud backup and multi-device sync. You can sign in with Apple or with your email address. If you sign in with email, we use your address only to send you a one-time sign-in code and to identify your account. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide a private relay email on your behalf.
Cloud Backup & Sync
When you sign in, BiteKit keeps a private, per-account copy of your data on our cloud backend (Supabase) so you can restore it after reinstalling and keep it in sync across your devices. This copy includes your meal entries, favorite meals, weight history, your profile and nutrition goals, and any meal photos you add (stored in private, per-user storage). Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and is accessible only to your account.
AI Processing
When you log a meal using text, voice, or a photo, your input is sent to our AI providers to analyze its nutritional content. This processing happens in real time, and the content of your meal descriptions and photos is not retained by those providers after processing is complete.
Analytics
We use analytics to understand how our app and website are used so we can improve BiteKit. Analytics data is aggregated and does not include the content of your meals.
Third-Party Services
BiteKit uses the following third-party services:
- AI providers for nutritional analysis (meal content is not retained after processing)
- Supabase for account authentication, cloud backup, and sync (only when you sign in)
- Vercel for hosting and analytics
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple and App Store distribution
Your Rights
You have full control over your data. You can delete it at any time from within the app, and uninstalling removes the local copy from your device. If you have an account, deleting your account in the app permanently removes your cloud backup, including any meal photos. You may also contact us to request access to, or deletion of, the personal data associated with your account.
